Chicago-style Scare Tactics

Here we are, the day after "His Imeprial Majesty" made two seperate, yet identical, speeches, threatening a default on US government loans. BO told the nation that if the debt-ceiling is not raised we would have to default on our loans. BO's speech, last night, was followed by a level-headed Boehner, who told the nation that we WOULD NOT default with or without raising the debt-ceiling. Boehner also hinted at the fact that he was working with Democrats and Republicans alike to get an amendment passed to raise the debt-ceiling and not raising taxes. The White House gang thinks that everyone in the US is dumb enough to believe the garbage they throw at us. Well, I have news for BO and his gang, at one time people did believe everything that the government said, but, ever since that little event called WATERGATE the public is a little more suspicious of the government propaganda.
Now, after hearing the Anointed One say we would default, we find out that all along BO has been in contact with the leaders of the BIG banks, and letting them know that we WOULD NOT be defaulting. Well, no shit! Boehner and the rest of the Republicans in Washington have been saying that all along. BO would have us all thinking that grandma wasn't going to get her SS check, our troops weren't going to get paid, etc. Well, with the Federal goverment taking in $22 billion a month in tax money, that seems a little far-fetched to believe. But once again, BO has stood up, looked dead into the camera, read his teleprompter, and LIED to us all. How can he ever expect to be re-elected. I don't think he stands a chance.
While officials from the Obama Administration raised their rhetoric over the weekend about the possibility of a debt default if the debt ceiling isn't raised, they privately have been telling top executives at major U.S. banks that such an event won’t happen. administration officials have told bankers that the administration will not allow a default to happen even if the debt cap isn't raised by the August 2 date Treasury Secretary Geithner says the government will run out of money to pay all its bills, including obligations to bond holders. Geithner made the rounds on the Sunday talk shows saying a default is imminent if the debt ceiling isn't raised, and BO issued a similar warning during a Friday press conference after budget negotiations with House Republicans broke down.
Major ratings firms -- namely Standard & Poor's and Moody's -- have said even if the country raises the debt ceiling and doesn't default, there's a strong likelihood that the triple-A bond rating will be cut to double-A unless a budget can be crafted that results in $4 trillion in savings, the result of the massive debt load the country has accumulated in recent years. The nation's outstanding debt is more than $14 trillion. But, the GREAT ONE says that he had nothing to do with it, all this debt came from the Bush presidency. But, in the eyes of the Democrats, we are not smart enough to figure out BO has a problem with accepting responsibilty. Bush started the hunt for bin Laden and BO took the credit for it, but, anything to do with the economy (stimulus packages, bail-outs, unemployment), well he inherited those from Bush. I, for one, have no confidence in anything our president has to say now. If BO came on and said it was hot outside, I would have to get a thermometer and see for myself.
BO spoke at a La Raza event yesterday. He spoke for about 15 minutes and didn't say anything of substance. He kept saying how the economy was recovering, just slower than he had wanted. He said that not a day goes by where he is not working on creating jobs for those who want to work. Obviously, in his eyes, the 9% of Americans that are out of work don't want to work. The purpose of his attending the conference yesterday was to try to keep the Latino vote. He promised the Latinos that he would change the immigration laws, guess what, HE LIED. He can not change laws, ONLY Congress can do this, not the President's office. He wants to be KING, but, this is the United States and we have a democracy, of sorts. Most of our forefathers came to America, by LEGAL means, to get away from tyrannical governments. He looks at everyone in the world as intellectually inferior to him, and that people will believe everything he says because he has great speech writers. Well, even the speech writers can not save himfrom his own self now.
It was known that he would win the 2008 elections, not by his experience or dedication to his country. In 2006, a vote came up in Congress to raise the debt-ceiling, it was voted down, BO voted no saying that the government needed to stop spending more than it could take in. Congressional Republicans believe that the Administration is raising the possibility of a default as a way to ramp up pressure on Republicans to agree to a budget deal that includes tax increases, which they oppose. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said Tuesday that a plan put forward by Boehner, R-Ohio, is a market-rattling "short-term solution" that "really isn't a solution at all" to the nation's budget problems. Boehner called Reid's blueprint a "blank check" for more uncontrolled spending that would undermine the economy. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, accused Republicans of trying to "undermine government" and "destroy" vital programs; Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, insisted President Barack Obama is "clinging" to hope for a "massive tax hike." BO also jumped into the partisan fray, ripping House Republicans for stubbornly pursuing a "cuts-only approach" that "doesn't ask the wealthiest Americans or biggest corporations to contribute anything at all." Obama renewed his call for a "balanced approach" that would include no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year. Boehner, in turn, blasted Obama in a nationally televised response, accusing the president of engaging in a debilitating "spending binge" and pushing "tax increases (that) will destroy jobs."
Obama has endorsed Reid's plan, but he acknowledged it has little chance of getting passed in the Republican-controlled House, just as Boehner's plan is unlikely to clear the Democratic-controlled Senate. House Speaker Boehner, said the president himself is now the chief roadblock to reaching an agreement. “You see, there is no stalemate in Congress. The House has passed a bill to raise the debt limit with bipartisan support. And this week, while the Senate is struggling to pass a bill filled with phony accounting and Washington gimmicks, we will pass another bill — one that was developed with the support of the bipartisan leadership of the U.S. Senate,” Boehner said. Boehner also said that he expects the bill to land on BO's desk. Then, it is up to BO to decide if he is going to keep his promise to veto anything that the GOP puts forth. So, what does BO do? Does he show himself a liar once again and sign the bill when it hits his desk, or does he risk an AA credit rating by keeping that promise of a veto? Looks to me like BO has painted himself into a corner and lost his bid for re-election either way he goes. Now, will BO man up and sign a GOP backed bill to help the country or will he continue with his party politics and VETO the bill?
I guess only time will tell. But, hey, what do I know, I am just a simple man and a weirdo.
