Is this the end of the hobby?

I am not happy with the car scene anymore. The Barrett - Jackson auto auction hit the TV and every car and truck in the back of people's property with trees growing through it suddenly turned into GOLD! What was once a $100 truck cab is now, in their minds, worth $3000.
Also, the street rodders, with their trailer queens, look down their noses at Rat Rods. Hey, everyone loves to look at a professionally built, $100,000 '40 Ford Coupe. But, how many can you stomach? The Triple Fives (55,56,57 Chevys), beautiful autos but how many can you look at?
This is where the Rat-rods come in. They started back in the 1940's and 1950's, when the American youth came home from WWII and Korea looking for fun. My dad said he and his brother would get paid to get rid of wrecked or broken-down cars to the junk yard. They would use what they could get off these junkers and build a true RAT-ROD!
I think that the Rat-Rod culture is here to stay. It's more than a car, it's a way of life nowadays.
